The Town of Paradise has launched a new Waste Disposal Assistance Program. It offers rebates to offset the cost of clearing home septic tanks. To be eligible for the program, residents must meet criteria.

The Town of Paradise is advising the public of new pedestrian activated traffic lights at the intersection of Sargent Donald Lucas Drive and Topsail Road. The lights are currently flashing to alert the public of their presence. Weather permitting the crosswalk will be painted on March 8, 2018 at which time the pedestrian activated lights will become fully operational.

The Town advises that due to the pending forecast, Garbage (Area 2) / Recycling (Area 2B) Collections are cancelled for Tuesday, February 27. Area 2 collections are rescheduled for Wednesday, February 28, and will take place along with regular collections for Area 3. Residents are asked not to place wheeled garbage carts or recyclables out for collection on Tuesday.

On January 30, 2018, the provincial Privacy Commissioner issued two reports on access to information requests made to the Town of Paradise (Reports A-2018-004 and A-2018-005). In the reports, the Commissioner reviewed the Town’s response to the requests and made subsequent recommendations. The Town has approved an application for demolition of the property at 1641 Topsail Rd, the ACAN building. Demolition is expected to begin in February, and will make way for redevelopment of the site. Fencing has been placed around the area to control loose debris and prevent public access during demolition.
