Construction & Road Work Update: May 28, 2019

The Town of Paradise today provided an update on several construction projects currently ongoing in the town.

The Town and council understand the frustrations of residents. We have a short construction season in our province and we are working to complete as much as we can in that time. We are working with our contractors to minimize traffic impacts as much as possible, but unfortunately traffic interruptions are unavoidable, and we ask residents for their continued patience as we work to enhance our road and transportation system.

Ongoing construction projects in the Town of Paradise include:

McNamara Drive Detour: Effective Thursday, May 30, the detour through Valley Ridge subdivision will no longer be required and traffic can use McNamara Drive. Road work and sewer upgrades continue on McNamara Drive and drivers may experience traffic slowdowns.
Karwood Roundabout: This project is expected to conclude in the next two to three weeks, weather dependent. Westbound traffic moving from Kenmount Road into the roundabout will be limited to one lane at times during the remainder of this work as new concrete is poured. There is be a flag person at the Paradise Elementary in the morning to assist with traffic flow.
Paradise Road: Work began the week of May 27 for Phase III upgrades to the section of road between Stormont Street and Archibald Drive.
Topsail Road Roundabout: Beginning the week of June 3, work is expected to begin along the shoulders of the road at the McNamara Drive and Topsail Road intersection. For this portion of work, no traffic interruptions are expected. Additional updates on traffic impacts for this project will be provided as the work plan progresses.
Line Painting: The 2019 annual line painting and maintenance program is underway and will continue over the coming months and includes traffic lines, edge lines, crosswalks, stop bars, margins and arrows throughout the Town.
Peter Barry Duff Memorial Park Light Installation: The weather has impacted the work schedule for this project, and it is now expected to be completed the end of June.
Storm Sewer Cleanout on Topsail Road: This work is expected to be completed by May 31
