The Town of Paradise is committed to creating a thriving, diverse and inclusive community together, which is a vision that captures the community-centric ideals of one of the fastest-growing municipalities in the province. Furthermore, we recognize the importance of education surrounding gender equity, particularly in the areas of sport and recreation.
In support of this, the Canadian Parks and Recreation Association (CPRA) has awarded the Town funding to hold free and accessible training workshops.
Topics for these sessions include:
The CPRA provides this funding through the Gender Equity in Recreational Sport: Community Grants Initiative. CPRA has implemented a number of initiatives, informed by best practices and evidence, in an effort to increase the participation and retention of women and girls in recreational sport in Canada. This effort supports the Government of Canada (Sport Canada) funding commitment to achieve gender equity in sport at every level by 2035.
The Town would like to encourage community/sports groups and sport/policy volunteers and professionals, along with current or prospective female athletes/coaches, to apply for these free professional development workshops to help create a space for further growth and conversation within our community and recreational sport.
