With the province deemed to be at Alert Level 3 under the provincial public health guidelines, the Town of Paradise today issued an update on operations and services.
“While Town facilities remain closed to the public, we are open and providing services to our residents,” said Mayor Dan Bobbett. “I thank all Town staff for their dedication and commitment to ensuring our residents continue to have the services they need.”
The Town will offer a limited Summer Day Camp program for July and August as permitted at Alert Level 3. Planning is underway in accordance with the public health restrictions and guidelines. At this time, online registration is scheduled for Tuesday, June 16. This date is subject to change based on operational and public health guidelines. Once program details are finalized and registration is determined, the information will be available on the Town website (
www.paradise.ca/camps).
Under updated Alert Level 3 guidelines issued this morning (June 8), recreational fields are permitted to open with appropriate public health guidelines and signage in place. Town staff are preparing the requirements and it is anticipated that Paradise Park (including the dog park and beach volleyball court) and Peter Barry Duff Memorial Park will open later this week; a further update will be provided. With respect to playgrounds, basketball courts, and skate parks, the Town is reviewing the updated public health guidelines and will provide a further update on openings later this week. The public washrooms will remain closed at the parks. The Dianne Whalen Memorial Soccer Complex and Milton Road Ballfield are closed to the public at this time. The Town is in regular contact with local sporting associations, and once they have determined the programming they will be offering, the Town will open both locations for minor sports.
“As part of our COVID-19 response, we have many staff working remotely, providing services to our residents and ensuring business continuity. At Alert Level 3, we will begin to transition staff back to working at Town facilities. We have also redeployed some staff to alternate work responsibilities. This is all being done in accordance with all public health guidelines. The health and safety of our employees and residents is always paramount,” said Mayor Bobbett.
