The Town of Paradise today provided an update on operations effective for Alert Level 4 of the provincial government’s
NL Life with COVID-19 plan.
At Alert Level 4, all Town facilities remain closed, including the Town Hall and Paradise Double Ice Complex, with the Town focusing on providing essential and core services to residents.
“The Town of Paradise has been following all public health guidelines and we will continue to do as the alert levels come into effect. Our focus is on providing essential services to our residents while ensuring the health and safety of our employees as they do their work,” said Mayor Dan Bobbett. “Town buildings may be closed, but the Town is open as we provide services to our residents. The main Town phone line and email address are monitored and staff are following up on all inquiries.”
Alert Level 4 Operations:
- Essential, core, and business continuity services are on-going; residents can call 782-1400 or email info@paradise.ca to contact the Town;
- Town facilities remain closed;
- Curbside garbage and recycling collection on-going as per the 2020 Garbage Collection Schedule;
- Public Council Meetings proceeding on regular schedule (first and third Tuesday of the month) via webcasting;
- Peter Barry Duff Memorial Park and passive green spaces are open; trails are designated as one-way;
- Playgrounds, dog parks, courts, and fields are closed;
- Bulk garbage collection remains suspended; and
- All Town events, festivals and gatherings are cancelled for Summer 2020.
The Town has started preparing for Alert Level 3 operations. Work on outdoor recreation fields and courts is being completed so that the areas are ready to open when deemed able to do so. Planning is underway to offer a limited Summer Day Camp in accordance with the public health restrictions and guidelines. Once the plans are finalized, the Town will provide further details, including registration times, available dates for camp, and summer student employment opportunities. The Town is also exploring virtual and on-line events for residents in lieu of the regular summer events normally held each year.
“As we have been since the COVID-19 pandemic hit our province, we are continually evaluating our operations and ensuring we are following all public health requirements. These are unprecedented times for everyone, and we thank our residents for their cooperation, understanding and support as we adjust operations and work to provide them with essential and core services,” said Mayor Bobbett.
Details on Town operations at the various Alert Levels will be provided once the province designates that level in effect.
