The Town of Paradise today provided an update on the Topsail Road / McNamara Drive Roundabout construction project. This project involves upgrading the sewer system on McNamara Drive, installing a roundabout at the intersection, and upgrades to Clearview Heights.
“This is a significant road construction project for the Town of Paradise that is part of our commitment to enhancing the transportation system in our Town,” said Mayor Dan Bobbett. “Given the scope of this project, it was organized to be completed over two construction seasons and it was designed to be completed in stages so as to minimize traffic impacts as much as possible.”
Throughout the fall, work focused on upgrades to the sewer system on McNamara Drive and completing preparatory work for converting the Topsail Road / McNamara Drive intersection into a roundabout. As the sewer work progressed, the project schedule was adapted to complete more of that portion of the work this year. For the roundabout, the retaining wall was installed next to the ALRE property, the curb and gutter were placed and other necessary infrastructure work was completed in the intersection.
“Throughout the fall considerable progress was made on this project and several significant components were completed. Work for this year is scheduled to conclude in the coming weeks. Next spring, when the construction season resumes, the roundabout and road upgrades to Clearview Heights will be completed,” explained Mayor Bobbett.
The Topsail Road / McNamara Drive intersection will remain a signalized intersection throughout the winter. The Town will provide an update on the start date for the 2019 construction season in the spring.
