The St. John's Regional Fire Department issued the following News Release regarding open air burning safety:
With spring outdoor cleanup starting, we know some folks choose to burn brush and yard debris on their property. Cleaning up debris and limiting the level of flammable vegetation surrounding your home is good practice, but make sure the way you do it is safe – for you, your home, your neighbors, and the surrounding area. Should you wish to clear any land or burn any brush, the St. John’s Regional Fire Department (SJRFD) wishes to remind all citizens that a permit is required for open air burning or burning in a barrel.
