Many residents are asking why the Town is temporarily lifting the state of emergency starting Monday, January 20. There were many factors considered and the Town did consult with neighbouring municipalities before making any decisions. Based on the snow clearing that has been completed throughout the Town and given that residents may be getting low on food and other necessities, the Town decided to temporarily lift the state of emergency during the day. This will allow business to open if they want to do so. No business is required to open at this time.
Residents are asked to follow the advisories of neighbouring municipalities. For those who work in Paradise but don’t live in the Town, if a state of emergency remains in place in your municipality, please contact your employer to advise of the situation.
The region has experienced a record-setting snow fall, and decisions on operations are continually reviewed as information and updates are received. The Town continues to monitor weather conditions, snow clearing operations, and regional operations, among other factors, and the state of emergency will be adapted as necessary.
We ask residents to please stay home unless absolutely necessary. The less vehicles on the roads the better for snow clearing operations. Our crews are working as quickly and as safely as they can to complete snow clearing work for the safety of all residents.
The Town will continue to provide updates on the state of emergency, snow clearing work, and operations. We thank residents for their patience and understanding as we all work to clean-up from the severe weather and record snow fall.
