Update issued 5:30 p.m. Thursday, January 23
The state of emergency for the Town of Paradise will be lifted effective 6:00 a.m. Friday, January 24. Based on the current progress of snow clearing and street widening operations, the Town is now in a position to be able to lift the state of emergency.
As street widening will be ongoing and with the considerable amount of snow that fell in the Town, effective immediately, the Town is implementing a 24 hour parking ban. No vehicles are permitted to park on any Town roads. When residents are doing snow clearing on their properties, they may park a vehicle on a Town road, but the vehicle must not be left unattended and must be moved immediately should snow clearing equipment be in the area.
On Friday, January 24, the Town Hall is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and the Paradise Double Ice Complex is open from 7:00 a.m. to 11 p.m. Special recreation programming is being offered again at the Paradise Double Complex to give residents options to get out and about after all the severe weather. Visit paradise.ca/programs for all the details.
Street widening and hydrant clearing will continue overnight on Thursday.
Drivers are asked to adjust speeds to current road conditions and please slow down, especially in residential areas. The large amount of snow is reducing visibility and it is important to watch for pedestrians and children playing.
The Town thanks residents for the patience, cooperation and understanding during this past week as we dealt with record snow falls.
