We thank residents for their on-going cooperation, it’s a great help as we continue with snow clearing operations. We ask drivers to adjust speeds to current road conditions and please slow down, especially in residential areas. The large amount of snow is reducing visibility and it is important to watch for pedestrians and children playing.
The State of Emergency remains in place in the Town of Paradise with a temporary lift daily between 6 a.m. to midnight. This will ensure that vehicles are not on Town roads at night which greatly assists snow clearing efforts.
Thursday, January 23, the Town Hall is open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and the Paradise Double Ice Complex, including the Body Quest Fitness Centre, is open from 7:00 a.m. to 11 :00 p.m. On Thursday, we are offering special recreation programming at the Paradise Double Complex to give residents options to get out and about after all the severe weather. paradise.ca/programs for all the details. These hours of operation support the temporary lift for the State of Emergency. Residents are advised to check with their respective minor sporting and other organizations on the status of non-Town programs.
Street widening is underway and hydrant clearing is scheduled to begin on Thursday.
A section of St. Thomas Line, from Topsail Road to Carlingford Drive is closed as repairs are completed on a sewer line. All traffic is diverted through Carlingford Drive. The section of St. Thomas Line will reopen on Thursday.
Seniors, persons with disabilities, and other residents in Paradise who may need assistance snow clearing can call the provincial emergency operations centre (military support) at 709.729.3703. It is open from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily.
