We thank residents for their patience and understanding as we deal with the record snowfall. Your cooperation is helping with the snow clearing work.
The State of Emergency remains in place in the Town of Paradise with a temporary lift daily between 6 a.m. to midnight. This will ensure that vehicles are not on Town roads at night which greatly assists snow clearing efforts.
On Wednesday, January 22, the Town Hall is open for employees and the public from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Paradise Double Ice Complex is open for employees, but it is closed to the public and all recreation programming is cancelled.
Street widening is underway and crews are working 24 hours a day. Loaders are working in areas of Town with larger lots and without curb and gutter as the equipment is able to push the snow from the roads. Large snow blowers are working in densely populated areas and subdivisions, and the street widening will take longer in those areas. The regular street clearing operations are being adjusted given the record snow fall amounts.
The provincial emergency operations centre (military support) is open and can be reached at 709.729.3703 from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily. Seniors, persons with disabilities, and other residents who may need assistance snow clearing are asked to call the line. This service is available to Paradise residents.
Garbage and recycling collection is cancelled for the remainder of the week. Regular collection will resume on Tuesday, January 28, 2020. (Extra bags will be collected for next week only.)
Residents who have questions on snow clearing, Town operations, or other Town work, are asked to call at 782-1400 or email info@paradise.ca. The Town Hall is open, but we are asking residents to stay off the roads unless necessary to help our snow clearing crews. We suggest calling or emailing and staff are available to answer questions and provide the information.
The Town will continue to provide updates on operations and snow clearing work.
