As part of the planning associated with the 50th Anniversary celebrations, the Town of Paradise created a 50th Anniversary Advisory Committee comprised of local residents who were interested in helping us help foster community spirit and pride through celebratory programs, events, and initiatives throughout the year.
These energetic, motivated, and civic-minded volunteers serve as Town ambassadors, and we thank each member for their dedication, hard work, and enthusiasm for our upcoming celebrations.

Why did you want to become a member of the advisory committee?
In the beginning, it was because the Mayor asked me to consider joining. After some thought, I decided that I wanted to be a part of the advisory committee in order to assist wherever I could to make this as special and as memorable a 50th Anniversary celebration for the town as possible.
Why do you love Paradise?
I love Paradise because it has been my family's home for forty-five years. My wife and I raised a family here. Paradise has grown significantly in that forty-five years, and I am so very proud of the way in which we have managed that growth while still maintaining a strong sense of community. It is a very special place - from the many businesses, modern and well-kept recreational facilities, to the schools, the trails, the many ponds, the well-developed streets, and the modern infrastructure. As well, there is a lot of history in Paradise that should be celebrated. Hence, the importance of our committee and our current work to memorialize some of that history. Singularly, I consider it a privilege to be a part of that.
What is your favorite thing to do in Paradise?
Outside of living in our own home, I really like walking the many trails. When I was younger, I enjoyed playing Masters Slow Pitch Softball. Before that, we would go fishing or swim in Adam's Pond. I like having a lot of the more essential businesses close by like supermarkets, banks, gas stations, convenience stores, repair garages, post offices, pharmacies, and a broad selection of restaurants. I especially like having our very own fire hall. I like being close to St. John's and Mount Pearl while not being in those two cities. I could go on. Essentially, it is too hard to pick just one single thing.
