The Town of Paradise and the SPCA St. John's signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on July 23, 2024, to provide direct animal care and a safe haven for lost or missing pets from the Town. Under the terms of the MOU, the Town will make an annual contribution of $10,000 to the SPCA for the next five years. The funding supports the SPCA’s Way Home Capital Campaign.
With the MOU, the SPCA will provide animal care for domestic animals picked up by the Town’s Municipal Enforcement Officers (MEOs) under its Animal Control Regulations. Any wandering dogs or cats collected by the MEOs will be brought to the SPCA. The organization will provide the appropriate care and attention to the animals and Paradise residents will be able to claim their missing pets through the SPCA.
Under the MOU, the Town will partner with the SPCA to offer adoption days, public education events, and community outreach initiatives in Paradise.
