The 2019 Budget for the Town of Paradise was unveiled during the regular public council meeting on December 18, 2018.
Budget 2019 presented a plan for meeting the needs of the Town today while setting the course for a sustainable future. It was a $37.3 million balanced budget which made strategic investments and provided the level of services and programs that residents want and deserve.
Overall residential property assessments in Paradise decreased in 2018 by just over five percent which meant the Town was facing a decrease in the revenue. Therefore, to maintain required revenues, the residential mil rate for 2019 increased to 7.2. With the decrease in residential property assessments, approximately 50 percent of property owners saw no change or had a reduction in residential taxes. Furthermore, 36 percent of residents only had to pay an additional $10 or less per month.
For 2019, the residential water and sewer rate increased to $600 per unit to cover increased wastewater treatment costs. Commercial assessments increased this year and as a result the mil rate remained at 11.5, keeping the Town competitive and supporting business attraction and growth efforts.
