The Town of Paradise today provided an update on the situation with Lift Station 10. The area of Town serviced by the lift station remains under a State of Emergency and the situation is stable at this time.
With the State of Emergency in effect, the Town has secured the necessary pumper trucks to maintain the flows at the lift station. Crews are working on repairs and pumper trucks will remain at Lift Station 10 as work continues.
The Town understands the noise and inconvenience experienced by those living in the immediate area of Lift Station 10 and we offer our sincere apologies. We thank residents for their patience and understanding as we work to keep this essential service operating for the Town.
Pumper trucks are also on site at the lift station located near the Paradise-Town of Conception Bay South boundary. For the safety of all involved, residents are asked to avoid the lift station, and there is no pedestrian thoroughfare on the eastbound side of Topsail Road in that area.
The intersection of Topsail Road and St. Thomas Line remains closed with all traffic diverted through Lanark Drive to Stanhope Drive to Topsail Road. Local residents can access their properties.
The Town thanks residents for their understanding and cooperation in reducing wastewater usage and asks residents to continue to minimize flushing toilets, using washing machines, and running dishwashers. These efforts help alleviate pressure on the sewer system which supports the work ongoing at Lift Station 10. There is no impact to the drinking water system.
Lift Station 10, located on the corner of Topsail Road and St. Thomas Line, handles the largest volume of wastewater in Paradise. A new lift station to replace the existing facility is under construction and is expected to be completed and operational in Winter 2025.
The Town will continue to provide regular updates on the situation.
