The Town of Paradise advises that snow clearing operations are on-going. Crews are currently out tonight (Sunday, February 9) in Town equipment doing necessary snow clearing. Staff are monitoring the weather, and snow clearing will continue throughout Monday.
On Sunday (February 9) afternoon, there was a fire in the depot area at the Paradise Town Hall. No one was in the building at the time and there are no reports of any injuries from the incident. The Town extends sincere thanks to the first responders for their quick and prompt action on the fire. There was heavy equipment in the depot at the time, and the extent of the damage is being assessed. As part of the Town’s emergency response plan to the fire, snow clearing equipment not in the depot has been relocated to the rear of the Paradise Double Ice Complex and the crews are operating from that building.
The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure along with neighbouring municipalities (St. John’s, Mount Pearl, and Conception Bay South) have all contacted the Town and offered available assistance. While we truly appreciate the outreach of support, assistance is not needed at this time.
Due to the pending storm, all Town facilities, including the Town Hall and Paradise Double Ice Complex, are closed for the full day and evening on Monday, February 10. Snow clearing crews will be in full operation. The Town will provide further updates on Monday, February 10.
